Puebla Talavera Rectangle Dish

Talavera is a form of traditional pottery from Puebla and one of the most outstanding handicrafts elaborated in Mexico.  Bring the rich colors of fall blossoms to your table with this dish.  In addition to making a great dish for serving nuts, use it to store your favorite rings or earrings!

Our Talavera is 100% lead free and safe for serving food.  Microwave, oven and dishwasher safe.   This piece is an original, expect slight variations.

From their monastery in the city of Talavera de la Reina in Toledo, Spain, the Dominican monks brought Talavera tiles as they traveled across Mexico building their monasteries.  The craftsmen of Colonial Mexico absorbed these influences and soon far exceeded their work, creating the noteworthy patterns and rich, striking colors associated with today’s Talavera. By the 16th Century, the pottery artisans of Mexico’s colonial region were creating these unparalleled pieces of their own.  You will find original Talavera pottery displayed in museums and in leading Latin American private art collections the world over.
