Hiroshige 2021 Wall Calendar

Utagawa Hiroshige’s delicately hued images invite you to experience the natural world, from tempestuous seas to the grace of a bird in flight. Harmonious landscapes and idyllic village scenes illustrate the Edo period, an unprecedented two centuries of peace and prosperity in Japan. These “pictures of the floating world,” or ukiyo-e artworks, capture fleeting moments of beauty in everyday life. Hiroshige was one of the last great masters of traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking. The twelve highly detailed prints in this calendar are in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
