Joe Ben, Jr. is recognized as one of the finest Navajo sand painters. He was born and raised in Shiprock, New Mexico, learning the tradition of sandpainting from his father at a young age. Unlike traditional sand paintings that vanish at the conclusion of Navajo ceremonies, Ben’s paintings are mounted and fixed. His spiritual designs are finely crafted from hand prepared natural materials, created using materials he has collected from all over the world. His works are displayed worldwide in museums including the Smithsonian and the Pompidou Center in Paris.
Painting measures 9" wide by 12" tall. Piece is signed and is ready to be hung.
