Lady Bug Pin

Rooted in an ancient European folklore, there once was a group of unhappy farmers who prayed to the Virgin Mary to save their crops from the aphid pests.  The Holy Mother summoned the ladybugs that ate away these vicious insects.  The name of insects shortened from "beetles of Our Lady" to lady beetle and ladybug.

Seen fluttering around warm grasslands, forests, rivers and even in cities, these incredible insects thrive happily in varied habitats.  Their red or orange shiny bodies signal their enemies to stay away and, their spots, if folklore is to be believed, signal the number of years that will bring luck to the onlooker.

Slight variation in embroidery, size, shape and color is part of the handmade craft and may be apparent between pieces.  This is not considered a defect but is celebrated as a mark of made by hand.

A beautiful display of artisanal skills and a charming accessory to add just a touch of whimsy to your wardrobe!
