This highly detailed hand-patinaed cast bronze pin replicates the leaf of the ginkgo plant. Measures 2" x 1.75".
The ginkgo family dates back to when dinosaurs roamed the earth. It still grows in the wild in China though it is cultivated throughout the world. It is considered a “living fossil”. Ginkgo biloba has been considered effective in the treatment of asthma and other allergic reactions.
An extremely tenacious plant, six ginkgo trees growing between 1–2 km from the 1945 atom bomb explosion in Hiroshima were among the few living things in the area to survive the blast. Although almost all other plants (and animals) in the area were destroyed, the ginkgos, though charred, survived and were soon healthy again. The trees are alive to this day.
