This super wide rebozo is a luxurious shawl with a cozy thick weave that is ideal for colder weather. The beautiful hues are each naturally-dyed by Kakaw Design's partner weavers at Lake Atitlán, and then handwoven using the traditional ikat technique to produce the patterns.
Kakaw Designs, based in Antigua, Guatemala was founded in 2013 by Mari Gray. Comprised of multiple weaving groups surrounding Antigua, Kakaw connects talented artisans in Guatemala to the global marketplace and individuals who recognize the value of the handmade. Known for their vibrantly colored jaspe (ikat) textiles, members of the association use both traditional backstrap and footlooms for weaving. Each weave tells a story through its distinct pattern and design, in addition to their care for regional traditions, Kakaw Designs also works with cooperatives to source natural dyes from pericón, cochineal, indigo, logwood, coffee, chamomile, and coconut.
Note: Each scarf is hand-dyed and handmade, slight variations in color is possible.
Material: Naturally-dyed cotton.
Care: Wash by hand separately in cold water with gentle detergent. A little bit of running color is normal for the first couple of washes for naturally-dyed fibers. Lay flat or hang dry. We recommend storing away from direct sunlight when not in use.
