Jennifer Medina is an award-winning contemporary jewelry artist from Kewa, Santo Domingo Pueblo. She has been surrounded by Pueblo culture and art her entire life and first learned the craft of jewelry-making by apprenticing with her mother. With her mother’s guidance she learned how to string gemstone necklaces, craft traditional handmade heishi beads and select the finest turquoise and materials while she was still a child. Today, Medina is known for her unique style of silversmithing, handcrafting one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces with extremely high-quality turquoise and gemstones. Working primarily in sterling silver and gold, she creates jewelry using tufa and cuttlefish casting, lapidary and inlay work, stamp work and other advanced jewelry techniques and her jewelry is known for its incredible artistry and sophistication. Medina’s bold jewelry pieces often feature innovative shapes and sculptural silhouettes, while also representing and respecting traditional elements. Medina has won awards at Santa Fe Indian Market and the Heard Museum Indian Fair and Market in Phoenix, Arizona.
