Jimmy Poyer

Jimmy Poyer

Navajo

Jimmy Poyer was born in 1954 near Mexican Hat, Arizona and raised near Red Mesa, south of the Four Corners. After deciding college was not for him, he decided to go on tour, playing lead guitar and singing vocals in a band performing for nearly two decades in venues from Canada to Mexico. When he would return home between tours, he apprenticed under renowned jeweler, Jimmie Harrison. Inspired by Harrison, he developed his own inlay style, experimenting with different color combinations. Every one of Jimmy’s pieces is built by hand from sheet silver, wire, and natural stones, including sheels, malachite, jet, coral, and turquoise. Jimmy currently resides in Farmington, New Mexico.
