Anthony Lovato Handprint Earrings

Sterling silver Tufa Cast post earrings featuring a set of handprints, one of the most common forms of rock art found throughout the world.

Tufa is a compressed volcanic ash material. When casting, the artist hand-carves a design into tufa stone – creating a negative space for molten metal to be poured. The use of tufa creates a beautiful, earthy pebble like texture on the silver.

Anthony Lovato is best known for his Tufa Cast jewelry, often featuring petroglyph and pictograph symbols. He is the son of notable lapidary artist Mary Coriz Lovato, and grandson of Santiago Leo Coriz. He is fifth-generation from Kewa Pueblo (Santo Domingo Pueblo).
